Job Summary
We are looking for an in-house maintenance technician who will be responsible for (1) repair and upkeep services, and (2) light suite renovations and upgrades for a well-maintained 200+ unit 50-year old concrete tower apartment building and commercial strip located in Vancouver’s West End.
The Maintenance Technician will report to the Corporate Maintenance Manager, and work with a full-time Resident Manager and building cleaner.
With minimal direction, the Maintenance Technician is expected to complete maintenance requests on site in a timely manner.
The role includes 4 evenings per week on call responsibilities for building emergencies.
This is a live-out position. Live in considered for the right candidate.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
(a) Minor building-wide electrical duties, such as changing receptacles, light fixtures, fuses, switch/outlet covers, light bulbs and tubes, check breakers
(b) Minor electrical in suites such as reset pumps/boilers, check/change thermostats, changing receptacles, switches and light fixtures
(c) Minor plumbing maintenance such as change/repair toilets & faucets
(d) Minor carpentry maintenance such as hardware replacement
(e) Minor mechanical maintenance such as change filters and emergency generator start-up, clean radiator and heat pump fins, clear condensate drains
(f) Minor appliance maintenance such as change freezer doors, crisper trays,range coil changes, moving and leveling of appliances
(g) Minor exterior maintenance such as fencing, repair/replace signage and numbers, clean gutters and debris from roofs, water flower and shrub beds
(h) Minor drywall repair and painting
(i) Snow removal, Including shoveling or blowing snow, laying down ice melter
(j) Perform various inspections on a regular basis i.e. boiler rooms, fire alarm logs, security systems, etc., or on vacancy and arranges for repairs and/or maintenance;
(m) Assist on other residential and commercial sites within the company group as needed
(n) Other related duties as directed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two (2) years in a maintenance role. Residential property maintenance service experience a plus.
- Comfortable using an Android smartphone and generally proficient in basic computer applications such as Gmail, Google Drive and Google Docs on a Chromebook.
- Able to follow our mobile-ready electronic maintenance management system, Yardi Breeze Premier (training will be provided)
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written; fluency in an additional language is an asset.
- Ability to spend up to eight hours walking, standing, climbing stairs, lifting, etc.
- Ability to perform physical work including bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and occasionally lift up to 75 lb loads
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and on-call as may be required.
- Driver license a plus
Full-time, Permanent. Be on-call after hours up to 4 nights a week for any emergency
